Divine Incomprehensibility in Eastern Orthodoxy and Reformed Theology

This article examines the views of Eastern Orthodox and Reformed on subject divine incomprehensibility. The two regard God to be entirely incomprehensible, but differ in way that he can known or experienced. maintain is not ultimately intellectually experienced mystically. Mystical experience, according this view, theology par excellence. key means by which mystical experience enjoyed theosis, deification. Reformed, other hand, eschew instead focus archetypal/ectypal distinction. cannot as himself (archetypal theology), reveals his creation (ectypal theology). Ectypal identical to, nor intersects at any point with, archetypal theology. It is, instead, analogous it. With these different incomprehensibility, also briefly considers how affect areas study (such anthropology, hamartiology, soteriology, pneumatology).
